Where the Mediterranean and the Alps meet. The clear water is fringed with towering mountains in the north and opens up to rolling hills in the south. Mediterranean plants are very much at home here: oleanders, cypresses, laurels, palm and olive trees and much more. Picturesque villages with weathered castles and winding streets rise up from the shore. Malcesine, a picturesque village on the eastern shores of Lake Garda is considered one of the most beautiful on Lake Garda. Nestling between Lake Garda and Monte Baldo, it is surrounded by cypresses, olive and oleander trees. Scaliger castle, the seat of the former Lords of Verona, rises above the narrow streets of the old fishing village. Sheltered from the wind by rocky mountain cliffs, Limona lies in a bay on the lake between the gardens, olive groves and lemon tree plantations. The rural houses, charming fishing port and narrow streets give the village an added flair. Itinerary: Take the Brennero motorway to Torbole, drive along the east bank to the romantic village of Malcesine. You can also go on a boat trip from here, to Limone, for example. From there, return via Lago di Toblino to Merano and continue to Laces.
